Whimsical Garden Bridal Shoot, Belle Victorian Gardens Here is some pretty inspiration for all you lovely brides out there planning your big day! This Shoot was styled by the incredible, Ashley Graham Events. Inspired by organic fruits, and all things soft and whimsical, this is one of my all time favorite shoots! Amazing Florals from Erica's Expressions were the perfect touch for the naked cake and elegantly designed tablescape. Deep maroons are a popular color for fall weddings, but can also be lovely inspiration for a spring wedding. This shoot was part Fuji 400H film and part digital images. Reds are always a stunning color for film photography.  Film images were developed and scanned by The Find Lab. "The unique tablescape is garnished with pomegranates, berries, pears, subtle yet luscious maroon peonies, and green vibrant foliage to create a perfect harmony. The delicate components are complimented by gold antique candlestick holders and finished with fresh crisp candles"-Ashley Graham Events. The hair design by Janet Carpenter is the perfect combination of fairytale and bridal elegance. Makeup by Evelyn Maura is spot on, as always! The Paper designs by Nicole Mae Paper Design were beyond incredible. I can't say enough about this All-start vendor list! Make sure you check out all of their websites, link at bottom of blog. A huge thank you to Ashley Haikkila for assisting me at this shoot!

Tips for your Perfect Engagement Session So you've booked your photographer and all the details for your wedding are starting to fall into place. Time to get your engagement session on the books!

Enagagement sessions are the perfect way to get comfortable in front of the camera, and also get some beautiful pictures of the two of you. A great way to use these photos is for your save the date cards, invites, and display them at your wedding.

Here are a few of my top tips to help your engagement session run smoothly and capture those perfect pictures you've been dreaming about!

This is going to sounds bit cheesy, but I think of every portrait as a recipe- it needs some basic, quality ingredients to create something yummy! Here is my list of those top 4 ingredients/tips:

1. Good Location- this is something I decide on with the help of my clients. I have a handful of go-to locations that I use often, but I always love to see you new spots! If you have close family or friends with land, open fields, old barns, etc. that can be a great place to start. Pick a location that fits your style and personality.

2. Beautiful Light- Portraits are all about light, and light can bring out your best qualities, or your worst. It's not just about a correct exposure, it's about the quality and direction of light. Leave this up to your photographer, but be ready to stand or move to spots that you don't necessarily see the potential for. Believe me, they see something you don't. I love to make the light dance behind my clients. They may not notice it at the time, but they see it in their images.

3. Wardrobe. Planning outfits can be a challenge. Pinterest is a great place to get inspiration for colors and textures. Dress for the season we are in. Summer- wear a cute dress and heals. Fall/Winter- bundle up with scarves and boots. Do add pops of bold colors, but nothing fluorescent, ever. Earth tones are soft and pretty too! Wear things that compliment you; your skin, your hair, your eyes. This is always a good excuse to go shopping ;)

Bring an outfit change. One Dressy outfit and one casual outfit are perfect. You can bring more, but do you really want to spend all your session time changing clothes?

This is also the perfect day to schedule your trial makeup run for your wedding. Professional makeup can help your photos so much! Here are links to a few of my favorite local MUA's:

4. Emotion!!! This is SO IMPORTANT!! This can make or break your photos- We can put you in beautiful light, in a breathtaking setting, dressed impeccably, but if there is no emotion, there is no flavor. Be ready to be silly, flirty, and romantic with your fiancé! Have fun!! This is such an incredibly special time in your lives, and it goes fast! enjoy it!!  Don't be afraid to laugh together, dance, or even sing! Whatever it is to make it your own!

Side note/Heads up- To start out, posing is going to feel completely unnatural- yep, that's right it's not always comfortable to be infront of the camera, especial if it's not something that you're used to. It WILL fell uncomfortable, and unnatural, atleast at first. But be ready to just go with it! knowing that as we work together to figure out how the two of you pose and interact best, it will become easier, and by the end of the session you will be posing like pro's!

Well, there you have my it, my favorite engagement session "recipe ingredients". I hope this was helpful and you love every minute of your photos!

Justin + Monica, Natures Connection Place Wedding I was so honored to get to travel to Western Washington and document the wedding of Justin and Monica! This wedding was especially close to my heart because I have known the bride since she was very young. It is amazing to see the beautiful woman she has grown up to be. The decor and details of their wedding were uniquely perfect for Justin and Monica- they had a wood stove where guests could create their own fresh pizza, and an ice cream truck to name a few. Those who know Monica personally describe her as a trend setter, and her wedding was no different! My favorite personalized detail was the wood pallet floral backdrop.

I often tell my clients that I can work with the light, I can direct and pose, and use photoshop to clean up images when necessary, but the one thing I cannot fake in post production is genuine emotion. It's up to them to truly enjoy their day and be present in the moment -it goes quicker than you know. Monica was one of the happiest brides I have ever seen and this couples beauty and emotions were overflowing! Smiles, tears, and laughter: joy was evident throughout their day, and with everyone who came to celebrate with them! The 7 adorable flower girls followed Monica around all day, attending to her dress and fawning over her. Monica gave just as much attention to all the little ones (lots of them her nieces and nephews) as she spent socializing with the adults.

Natures Connection Place had everything from Mountain views to lush gardens. Gorgeous Florals from Stadium Flowers. The Dj (Joel Taylor) was incredible, kept the party light and fun (he also is a childhood friend of mine who was in almost all my classes since grade school). All the familiar faces, including some of very closest friends made the day and the trip to Seattle amazing! A big thank you to my second shooter Ashley Haikkila for making the trip with me! Congratulations Justin and Monica! We had a blast and were truly blessed to be witness to such an incredible love story!

Kevin + Holly "We love because he first loved us."- 1 John 4:19 This scripture was written above Kevin and Holly's alter. It was the perfect fit because the love and faith these two share shine so brightly! There was so much love between them, and from everyone who came to celebrate with them.  The speeches brought me to tears, and while I'll admit that's not so hard to do, as I also cry at commercials, these were especially genuine and full of emotion. What a beautiful union these have entered into, with Christ at the center. I feel so blessed to have been able to witness and document this incredible wedding!

I was lucky enough to have the amazing talents of Amber Glanville and Ashley Haikkila second shooting. Other incredible vendors include: Makeup by Evelyn Mauro, Flower Bar,  Amp'd Entertainment, and The Attic.

Max + Tatiana, Belle Gardens Wedding Let me start by saying that I fully planned on keeping this blog post under 50 images. This day was so gorgeous though, that I couldn't stop at just 50. Belle Gardens was the perfect setting for this incredible couple and their sweet families to celebrate the marriage of Max and Tatiana. These two are SO in love and it showed in every part of their day! Our schedule was running close to 2 hours behind due to a tear in Tatianas dress and then a broken shoe, but nothing was going to spoil this couples day! We didn't get a lot of time to take portraits so I did steal them away for a couple of minutes at sunset to capture a few more of just the two of them. I love that they share my love for film! The tables were adorned with vintage cameras, which made for some fun photo props. This day was full of beautiful moments, the sprinkle exit down the aisle, the rose petal grand entrance into the reception, the sparker exit at the end of the night, but one of my favorites was the washing of each others feet at the ceremony. This is a symbol of serving each other and putting each other first from now on. Since a towel had been overlooked up at the alter, Tatiana used her wedding dress to dry Max's feet. Though it was an incredibly stunning day by all physical means, what was most beautiful about this wedding was clearly the unseen- the joining together of two lives so devoted to Jesus and to each other. It was a pleasure to get to document this wedding. A big thank you to Ashley Haikkila for second shooting!

Blackwell Hotel Elopement Small intimate weddings are always one of my favorite things to photograph. This rainy day elopement at the Blackwell Hotel was no exception. The Blackwell Hotel did an amazing job of coordinating the details for Scott and Sydney's beautiful ceremony. The stunning accessories the bride wore were from Rent the Runway. Lovely cake from one of my favorite local bakeries, Stacie's Cakes. We got rained on briefly, but were able to at least go outside for a few outdoor portraits. Congratulations Scott and Sydney! We loved being a part of your wedding! Thank you to my second shooter Ashley Haikkila!

Hayden Lake Winter Wedding- Taylor + Jenna Jenna wanted snow for her big day, and boy did we get it!! The Hayden Lake Country Club was the perfect, cozy spot for this winter wedding. Taylor and Jenna said their vows in an intimate ceremony in the Wigwam Room at the Country Club, overlooking Hayden Lake. Between the heavy snow and fog, we weren't able to see much of the Lake and mountains that day, but it didn't matter much to this gorgeous bride and groom, who couldn't take their eyes off each other anyways:) The florals were designed by the brides mother and Jenna looked incredible in her gown from Storybook bridal. The Reception was beautifully lit up with custom lighting from Audio Affiliated. It was a privilege to witness and capture such an important day for two very kind and genuine souls. Thank you to Jenice Baker for Second Shooting.

Photos for Katie Hello Everyone, and Thank you so much for signing up for this fundraiser!! This fundraiser has such special meaning and I have been overwhelmed with the amount of support from our community. Katie is so very loved and it has been amazing scheduling everyone and hearing from them how they know and love Katie.

Because we have so many people coming out on Sunday, I wanted to put all the information in one location so it is easy to access. PLEASE READ THROUGH ALL THE INFORMATION in preparation for your session on Sunday. This should answer all questions, but if there are any others feel free to call or email me:  ph: 208.818.5944

The sessions will be held this Sunday November 30th at 6120 N 15th Street Coeur d'Alene ID

This is a beautiful property by Canfield Mountain with the look and feel of a Christmas Tree farm. (This is not actually a Christmas Tree Farm, so please do not plan to get your family tree while at your session) :-)

Coming from Spokane

Take I-90 East to Coeur d'Alene. Take the 15th Street Exit. Take a left off the exit and head north. The location will be on your right just past Canfield Middle School. If you get to Hanley, you have gone just a little too far. We will have signs out on the street so you won't be able to miss us.

If you are one of the few Studio sessions, you will receive address and directions in your email.

We have 6 amazing Photographers volunteering their time and talents on Sunday. Crystal Madsen Photography, Tori Anderson Photography, Jennifer Haas Photography, Bluebird of Happiness Photography, Lisa Wise Photography, and we just added the amazing Laura Fifield Photography. We cannot guarantee which one your session will be with, but they all do such quality work that I know you will be thrilled with whoever you get! Please be kind and thankful to them. They will be working hard all day in the cold temperatures and working additional days to edit and return your images to you in a timely fashion.

Please check in with Midge at Registration. She will be taking payments and direct you to your photographer. Please also make sure that she has your correct email address on file.

Please make your checks payable to The Windermere Foundation, and write "Katie" anywhere on the check. Katie has worked for Windermere for 15 years and they are allowing us to run the payments through Windermere's non profit foundation so that Katie's donations will not be taxed.

Sessions are a $100 donation. 20 minute session and includes 5 digital images. All Proceeds will go directly to Katie to help with her medical bills.

We have also added the option to double your donation and receive 3 additional images PLUS be entered to win a 16X20 gallery wrap. Please consider doubling your donation, this will not only help us meet our financial goal we would like to raise for Katie, but you will also have a pretty good chance of winning. There will be snacks and hot cocoa available. Donation is not required, but their will be a donation jar available for snack options.

Please remember that the owners have allowed us to use their property so lets all be respectful of their beautiful land and trees.

Please be on Time for your session. We have close to 50 families coming out on sunday, which means in order for everyone to get through all the sessions we need to stay on schedule. You should have received an email and or Facebook message confirming your time. If you did not, please contact to confirm.

Please dress warm!! The weather forecast is calling for 20 degree weather. Please dress yourself and your family accordingly. Because we have close to 50 families coming out, I will not have time to answer everyone's questions about wardrobe choices to fit your style, but if you need help on styling and dressing your family for photos, here is a blog post you can check out with some wonderful hints on what to wear:

We have amazing furniture rentals and props that have been donated to us from the Attic. These are beautiful vintage pieces and quite costly so please take care and be respectful. We want to return them to the Attic in the same beautiful condition they arrived in. That mostly means please keep your feet off the settees and chairs, especially if they are muddy and watch small children around them.

Volunteers: We are still in need of a few volunteers to help. If you would like to help please email me at:

Most of All I want to thank each and everyone one of you for participating!! If you know Katie, then you already know how incredible she is! We want to help as much as we can, however we can. Helping financially is a huge way that we can support Katie. I know that Katie has a very large deductible to meet, one that she will also have to pay again come January. With her treatment she will not be able to work, and Katie is a single mom. Lets set our goal high and meet it! Lets do our best to try to cover as much of that deductible as possible, so that Katie can focus on her family and her treatment. So please give generously. If you are able to do more than the asked donation, please do.

Mason + Kelsey, Blackwell Hotel Wedding Mason and Kelsey's Wedding at the Blackwell Hotel in downtown Coeur d'Alene was stunning!!! I have loved getting to know this couple. Their heart for the God and people is incredible! Kelsey's bridal gown from The Dress Theory was simple, elegant and dreamy! The flowers were designed by one of my favorite florist, Erica's Expressions, and she did not disappoint!! Sure Shot Video captured all of the excitement and I cannot wait to see the final cut! The photo Both Folks were so fun, Tori and I even had to jump in the booth for a few pictures. Thank you to my wonderful assistant, Tori Anderson! The entire day was fantastic and I am so grateful to be witness to and to get to document amazing days like these. Dustin + Tori's Sunset Bridal Session If you missed part one of this beautiful couples wedding I will give you a quick recap (though you really should go view it, because it was amazing!) Dustin and Tori had a huge storm rip though their wedding day, which largely limited the amount of time we had for photos. SO… we went out the following week to take a few more formal portraits of the two of them with their daughter Addy. I love everything about this session, from Tori's dress to all of Adalyn's sweet faces, and it's no secret that I love to shoot at sunset, so I was pretty much in heaven! Oh and the peaches will also make sense if you view part one since their wedding was on a peach orchard :) I'm excited to finally be sharing this part two of this beautiful wedding!! Enjoy!

]]> (Lisa Wise Photography) Thu, 09 Oct 2014 06:06:38 GMT
Dustin + Victoria What an amazing day! I could not love this wedding, or this sweet couple more! Tori is my 2014 wedding intern. Well, at least she started the summer that way- now, she is more like a sister. Throughout the summer we looked forward to her big day, and when it finally came, not even the huge storm that hit 2 hours before the ceremony could ruin this glorious wedding. Tori's dress from Storybook bridal was incredible to say the least. I think her mother described it best, "The dress is Tori in fabric". And it really was! The flowers from Evergreen Florist were the perfect compliment to the peaches in bloom all around the orchard, with pops of soft pink and orange. The entire bridal party hid out in the bridal suite while Thunder, lighting and high winds whipped through the orchard. I was impressed with how calm and joyful they were. When it was finally over everyone ran around putting decorations back together and by the time guest arrived it looked like nothing had even happened. The sun came out after that and the rest of the evening was perfection. The storm put a bit of a time crunch on the amount of time we had to take photos, so we went out a week and a half after the wedding for a sunset bridal portrait session with their adorable daughter. Look for a blog post on those soon because it was a stunning session!! The signs and many of the decorations were hand made by the bride and her mother. Everything about this wedding was Dustin and Tori to a T, from the soft serve ice-cream, to the blue rubber wedding ring the groom wore. Makeup by Alexa from Kiss and Makeup, Hair by Janet Carpenter. A huge thank you to my second shooter Jenice Baker.

Glover Mansion Wedding, Scott + Wendy Scott and Wendy's wedding was so fun and laid back! It was a dream to photograph! The ceremony took place in St. Aloysius Church on campus at Gonzaga University, where Scott and Wendy attended college. The reception was at one of my favorite Spokane venues, The Glover Mansion. The Dress, from Marcella's Bridal was custom designed for Wendy by Marcella herself! And the polka dot tulle matched the flowers girls dress. Everything about this wedding was fun and beautiful, just like the couple. You could tell that Scott and Wendy thoroughly enjoyed their day and all of their wonderful family and friends who were there to celebrate with them. It made documenting and photographing this wedding so wonderful and easy for us. As always, thank you to my amazing assistant and second shooter for this wedding, Tori Anderson! Also a huge thank you to the staff at The Glover Mansion who always makes working with them fantastic. Flowers by Special Touch Florist, Deserts and Pies by Walter Fruit Ranch, Bridesmaids dresses from Davids Bridal and Tuxes from Men's Warehouse

Right here on these steps is  where their families met for the very first time, so it was pretty cool to get to capture a photograph of them all together on those steps again.

Highlands Golf Course Wedding, Tait + Monica Tait and Monica had a breathtaking July ceremony at the Highlands golf course in Post Fall Idaho. All of the details by Alisa Lewis Event Design were gorgeous! The flowers by Garden of Eden Floral Design were exquisite! Makeup by the talented Lacey Moen of Earthly Beauty Bar. Music by Justin Haas of Amp'd Entertainment. Tait and Monica are a fun and sweet couple that we adored working with!! Everything from the Breakfast for dinner, to the music was fun and easy going, just like this beautiful couple! Their adorable children were part of this stunning ceremony that took place on the course. My favorite quote from the ceremony -"Be the person you want your kids to become," and that is exactly who these two are, wonderful and kind, full of love and grace. Congratulations Tait and Monica!!!
